Somone Likes You... Kinda

I received a Secret Admirer email today. The email came from a Someone Likes You generic address, however the only ways to receive such an email are: 1) Someone did in fact send you a secret admirer email, or 2) Someone thought you could have sent them one. The small print stated something along the lines of the dot-com not liking spam or abuse of their emailing system and to report such a bastard to them at some email address. So I think to myself: cute, someone likes me :-)
I try to find out who they are but wow is that hard. The hint had them placed in an age range greater than my own and that should make it easy to figure out but it's not. See, I don't know many people who are in the age range of 24-28... I just don't. I know a TON of people my age and younger. So of the small list that comes to mind, I'm immediately lost. How about a hint?
You get a hint per 5 names and email address you think could have been the sender. If you match the sender's in a guess, you get the confirmation, otherwise on to another guess and 5 more emails. 30 emails later...
Haha! Fooled you! Well... I did send off 30+ emails, but, my spider-sense had been tingling [I love it when it does that ;)] and I predicted such spamming technique, although understandably valid from a certain point of view. My hope was my self-induced ineptitude in guessing who'd sent the email to me would be rewarded with the answer, but unless you guess them you're not going to get the answer. This... will drive me nuts, I swear. There are some tid bits of knowledge that when left unearthed that drive me crazy, absolutely bonkers. I will be arriving in Ontario not only hung over but insane.
I had the brains enough to be polite and email a friend who has an interesting dot com where no matter what you put in front of the email address portion "@hisdotcomnamehere.com" it will be valid, and let him know he'd be getting spammed shortly. Well that poor bastard has about 30+ emails in his inbox but he owes me money anyway.
Supposedly this admirer is in the technology field which suggest my work place but everyone knows I'm leaving. Perhaps the perfect timing to be receiving one of these? Perhaps. I'm trying to figure out who it could be but alas, unless they lied about their age, I won't be able to figure it out. So if this is read by this person, please just let me know you sent it because I have a very limit number of email address that I use and I won't be spamming all my female friends who do or do not fit the hints in an attempt to just figure out who it was. They're my friends for a reason: I don't spam them. No insult intended, but I'd appreciate knowing who it is. You can always work up the courage and email me.

Crap... I sent one to email account "B" from "A". Then I had "B" guess "A" account only... it didn't think that was a match. There's no way to win as far as I can tell... :(

LOL
Okay, it finally worked, just took a while for the confirmation email to get through. Guess what you have to do to find out if you win...
Sign up with Columbia House.
That's one of the options, but you get the picture...

haha
most of those sites have stupid things like that. "sign up for this and earn 10 guesses!" meanwhile after you sign up and give them 10 email addresses of people you think they've already gotten nailed with junkmail upto their eyebrows...

Heh. I've had one of those for like 3 years... every once in a while I'll log on and try and guess... but it's just impossible. It's something to ward boredom every once in a while, but signing up for more spam sucks.

yeah i had one of those - it's clearly a scam to harvest email addresses for spamming purposes, by going to the site and trying to guess, you're merely confirming that your email address works and is worth spamming. I really don't like these kind of people at all..oh well
nice site you have here by the way :-)

Or leave a comment! Hmmm... even if you didn't send me the email but you are a secret admirer, leave a comment! Conor will take secret admirers too.
