FLUX AD: My Experience

I PLAYED WITH THE BAND FOR ONE OF THEIR SONGS!

More like Flux's awesome guitarist Bill Majoros came down from the stage to our table (we were as up front as it gets), held a chord and passed me his pick so I could play for him, but WOW! WOOT! And their sexy looking and sounding vocalist Julie MacDonald wanted me to go up and take the mic but I so didn't have the balls for that. The words "I'm not worthy" from Wayne's World kept going through my head. But that lost opportunity made way for so many other cool things. I got their latest album, signed by every member of the band, chatted with Bill about places where he might play in Winnipeg because he was interested in doing that, picked up a few shirts, discovered the drummer lives in Dundas, and got to experience this night that I will never forget with my friends.

This has been by far the best live experience I have ever had. I payed ten times the amount to go see Tori Amos live and could barely see her because everyone was standing up and there was a poll in the way plus I was in the balcony. Most of you know I'm a Sarah McLachlan fan, that I like Tori Amos more, but now, I must say, Flux AD takes the cake with the small bar, quieter, more personal live show. I'm a die-hard fan now. I guess I already was before I walked through the doors of the bar C'est What?, but the stickers, button, shirts and signed CD that I walked away with now manifest this obessive compulsive passive aggressive need for Flux AD's music.

I thought the show was great too. Would love to see them again soon.

very good. i find personalising the shows is much better. i hate bands who just stand there, play their shit and piss off home. whenever we play a gig i like to make it personal, although not quite in the same way, things like walking around the crowd, getting people to shout into the mic, and my personal favorite, picking out the most timid looking teenage girl in the crowd, grabbing her head and screaming the lyrics into her face. they seem to like it, god knows why, but some of them have actually stuck out their heads so i can grab 'em. nice.
