Tired Of Text

I am tired of text. Ironically I am here communicating to you in text; this irks me too. What irks me even more, because it compounds my venting, is that I had the first chunck of all of this written out when I clicked by accident and went to my news site: hitting the back button does not give me my entry back so I'm in notepad. I'm going to vent about communication, being tired, and the like because right now I'm upset with crap that's been communicated to me in text.
How much of text comprises communication? A dismal 15%-5% based on the numbers I've heard. Remember if you got an 85% in a class you were probably happy, or maybe you got an impressive 95%? How important was the difference that made up the 100%? Relatively insignificant because you got the vast majority of what was being communicated to you. You demonstrated your ability to understand and apply what was communicated to you. So why the fuck do people text message, email, and drop letters off at your door with a few words covering important topics that sure require more than a few words?
I say it's for many, many reasons that are entirely beyond anyone's comprehension if ony because we're missing 85% of the rest of the message. I don't let getting emails with a few lines that piss me off because, in part, I have no idea in what way they were being said. I don't know if what was being written was hopeful or scolding. That's because it's missing the tempo of delivery, the intonation, the emphasis that we use to bite out each word that we hate or love. It's missing the eye contact or lack there of, it's missing the volume, the body language that writes a book in itself from stern stances to fidgiting nervousness.
A picture paints a thousand words. It can communicate so much more, with the speed of a thousand gazelles being chased by a cheetah. Text is but a sliver of a message and I really don't like getting just that when there's more than can be done. When it's a conversation one-on-one, over time, a phone call can go a long way, and if you're not far away, a call to arrange a short visit can do so much more. I say if you have the opportunity to do that, don't spend a stupid amount of time text messaging through a phone or writing an essay of an email. Pick up the phone. Pick up the car keys. Put yourself into it. Important things absolutely must be dealt with in full communication if possible. That means in the flesh. A phone would be second best. An email is sad. A text message is as craptastic as a half dozen words on a piece of paper. If you want to know more, don't leave a comment, drop by to 52 Woodrow in Winnipeg, or give a call at 204-786-6366. If that's not doable, leave a comment. From now on I'm going to continue to use text messages, emails, and phone calls but if I can visit someone to talk and I have the time, I will. If I can call, I will. I'm hoping this will change my life some for the better, so I also hope my doing this from now on will too.
